FAQ:

So what is an Artists' inFormal?
It's a party for the centuries, exclusively for Columbus's artists and art supporters. (Don't worry, we won't need to see your artist badge for you to get in) It's a free event, with free food, free drinks, free parking and free admission. It's our chance to say 'thank you' to the artist of this community. It's also a great way to show the strength of the arts community. Did we mention that Columbus is turning 200 years old?

And it's totally free?
Yes. GCAC, Chase, and the Friends of the Cultural Arts Center are all supporting us to make this epic night free.

Who will be there? People who love art. People who make art. People who you haven't seen in years. Friends you don't even know yet. Mayor Coleman will be there. So will members of Wild Goose Creative. Young artists. Experienced artists. And you'll be there, right?

What should i wear? Dress artistically! Dress stylishly. Dress regularly. Don't bother getting in your tux or gown. Remember, it's inFormal.

Should i bring anything? If you'd like you can contribute a piece of your own art to be included in our 2012 time capsule. Think small. We're looking for items that are tiny: 2"x3"x1". Think creatively and we're sure you can think of something that can fit: a small drawing; a piece of jewelry; a tiny sculpture; a poem.. And if we keep the items small, we can include lots of folks' art in the capsule!

Explain this "Faces" Photo installation: On the night of the event, we'll have 4 photographers set up around the building. Our goal is to capture an image of every single artist in attendance. Then over the summer, we'll create an art installation outside on Main street called "Faces: 2012 Columbus Artists". We'll keep the installation up for the arts festival next summer so that thousands of people will be able to see all the amazing artists that make up Columbus! Can you imagine that: 1000 artist photos all in one place!

Any entertainment? Of course! We'll be featuring live music in our studios from the likes of Eric
Nassau and members of the Youth Jazz Orchestra. We'll have DJ Adam Cummins kicking it in our Main Hall Gallery. We'll also be premiering our original video about the young artists of columbus. You won't want to miss this.

Parking? FREE PARKING at the corner of Mound and 2nd, caddy corner to the CAC.

When is it? Saturday February 11, 7-10pm.

This sounds awesome! Can I help?
If you'd like to volunteer, email Jennifer Johnson at jljohnson@columbus.gov.
